Who is Ms. Anne:

Born into family of musicians, coloratura soprano, Anne Chapman, has been performing since a very young age. During her time growing up in Libertyville, IL, Anne performed in a variety of musical theater roles, won several vocal competitions, and sang in choirs throughout the Lake and Cook County area. Pursuing her love for classical music, Anne obtained a degree in Vocal Performance at Illinois Wesleyan University. While studying to become a professional opera singer, Anne performed several roles with the Opera Theater Program including The First Lady in The Magic Flute, Leila in Iolanthe, and First Witch in Dido and Aeneas and performed with the IWU Collegiate Choir . Anne also premiered the leading role of Ugh Illinois in Prairie Fire Theater's Ugh The Duck, which sets the classic tale of The Ugly Duckling to favorite theater and opera tunes. With the goal of exposing local youth the fine arts, this ensemble traveled to elementary schools around central Illinois, and more than 2,400 kids experienced the production. In 2012, Anne found herself studying in Vienna, Austria under former Vienna State Opera soprano, Donna Robin through the IES Vienna Music Program. She also performed with the IES Music Performance Workshop in several opera scenes and ensembles featuring German and Austrian composers. Anne formerly performed as a soprano section leader at the Second Presbyterian Church in Bloomington, IL, and currently serves and an interim soprano section leader at St.Mary's Church in Lake Forest, IL. Anne is also available to sing for weddings, funerals, and church services.

Anne went on to pursue a career where she can combine her love of music, language, and working with children by obtaining a Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. During her graduate career at the University of Maryland, Anne gained a deeper understanding of the vocal mechanism, importance of vocal health, and the neurological benefits of music. Anne's teaching philosophy emphasizes setting a foundation of appropriate vocal technique, building self-awareness, and supporting each of her students at their level and pace.

While classical music is a continued passion, Anne also enjoys and has experience singing musical theater, contemporary music and singing karaoke in her "Disney Princess" voice.
