The Fall is a wonderful time to celebrate the grandparents in your children’s lives. This year, Grandparents Day is celebrated on Sunday, September 8, 2019. For all the grandparents out there wondering what to do with your Grandchildren, here are some fun tips and activities to do in the Fall.
Now that the weather is getting nicer (we hope by then), it is easier for grandparents and children alike to be outside in the fresh air. What a better way to begin fall, than with:
Apple picking: There are plenty of orchards around northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. It is a great opportunity to do a fun activity that is also healthy! Check out some of the orchards that have apple picking, pumpkin picking and pear picking: https://www.appleholler.com/, https://www.myharvesttime.com/
Mazes: Have some fun exploring the mazes set up by some of the local orchards. It is a good way to work on problem solving skills with the grandchildren while still having some fun!

Visiting the Zoos, Museums and Aquariums can be a fun activity if you have the time. Take a drive into the city and participate in some of the exciting adventures of downtown. Many of them within walking distance of each other, such as the Shedd Aquarium and the Field Museum. https://lambsfarm.org/business-attractions/farmyard/ , https://www.czs.org/Brookfield-ZOO/Home , https://www.sheddaquarium.org/ , https://www.fieldmuseum.org/
Be sure to register for our Grandparent Day Celebration (being held on September 6th) at Pediatric Interactions, Inc. located at 649 Barron Boulevard in Grayslake, IL: Kristoffs in Round Lake Beach has miniature golf and bowling. Take some time to get out and exercise with the kiddies by bicycle, walking, and/or strollers at any of the 62 local forest preserves in Lake County
Lastly, be sure to take pictures of you and the grandchildren doing something fun and we will post it on our website and FaceBook page!
Enjoy the time with your grandchildren! They grow up way too fast! You don’t want to miss a moment!
