This theoretical framework developed by Shelia Frick, OTR, Patricia Oetter, MA, OTR, FAOTA and Eileen Richter, MPH, OTR, FAOTA demonstrates how and why many aspects of development are significantly influenced by the suck/swallow/breathe synchrony. The therapeutic application of this theory involves integrating the mouth with sensory and postural functions. A variety of oral tastes and textures, whistles and straws are utilized.
