Discrete Trial Teaching (DTT)
DTT is a behaviorally based instruction routine. A specific skill is broken into a set of skills. The “teacher” provides instruction and prompts/cues/model if needed. If the child responds correctly, he/she is given a reward or praise. If the child responds incorrectly, correction or another chance may be provided. Each discrete trail is a single cycle and may be repeated several times in succession, several times a day, over several days until the skill is mastered.
